About Sortie Watches
What does sortie mean?
Sortie is defined as "a sudden issuing of troops from a defensive position against the enemy" and "one mission or attack by a single plane" - Marriam Webster dictionary
We chose the name Sortie because we are on a mission to create modern timepieces, inspired by British aviation.
What are our ambitions?
To build modern aviation inspired watch collections. We aim to blend British design with Swiss craftsmanship, focusing equally on exceptional design and uncompromising quality. Our goal is to establish Sortie Watches as a brand that stands the test of time, a company built to inspire and endure for generations.
Are your watches Swiss made?
Yes, our watches are manufactured by our Swiss based partners to the Swiss made standard.
About the BH1000 collection
What does BH1000 mean?
The BH1000 collection pays tribute to the over 1,000 sorties that were launched from RAF Biggin Hill during the Battle of Britain.
Is this a limited edition?
No. The first run of 300 watches is individually numbered. When sold out, we will start planning future production runs. Those batches will, however, remain small in numbers and future designs will likely evolve.
Can I get a discount?
We don’t currently offer discounts. As a microbrand, we operate with much smaller margins than mainstream brands, allowing us to focus on maintaining exceptional quality and craftsmanship in every watch we create.
Purchasing my BH1000
What does pre-order mean?
A pre-order means the watch is still in the manufacturing and/or QC process in Switzerland. Delivery of our BH1000 will begin in December 2025.
Is production reliant on pre-orders?
No, we’ve chosen to fully fund the production of the BH1000 ourselves, without relying on pre-sales. This decision reflects our commitment to building Sortie Watches sustainably and with a long-term vision.
What import duty & tax should I expect?
Any orders that are made outside the UK are priced excluding VAT (20%) however, you will be subject to import duty/tax when the item is imported into your country.
- When you process your order at checkout and enter your country, the price will automatically remove any VAT if it was previously shown.
- DHL will handle the charge for import duty and will typically contact you prior to delivery to arrange payment. Please ensure that when you are requested to make a payment for import duty, you are directed to the DHL website.
- Import duty varies from country to country. Please ensure you check the current rates in your region before ordering.
- If you don't pay the applicable duties and taxes and the item is returned to us, we will deduct any duties, taxes or fees incurred by us from your refund.
Owning a BH1000
Can I size the bracelet myself?
Yes, you can size your bracelet using the screws on the bracelet. However, we would recommend that you take your watch to a jewellers to avoid accidental scratches.
How do I change my watch strap?
All of our straps are fitted with quick-release spring bars, which allows you to easily change the look of your watch in seconds without the use of a tool.
Do I have a warranty?
Of course. Sortie watches come with a two-year warranty on proper functioning, excluding user-caused issues and water resistance. We will ensure your watch runs smoothly, reliably, and in style.
Do I need to get my watch serviced?
Yes. Like any mechanical watch, we recommend having it serviced every five to seven years.
Do you offer servicing?
We currently do not offer servicing. However, it is our longer term aim to provide.
Can I swim with a BH1000?
Yes! Your BH1000 is water resistant to a depth of 150 meters. Each individual watch is pressure tested before going out, so you can trust the depth rating. Note that water resistance is never covered under warranty (by any watch brand) and regular checking of the water resistance is required to ensure your seals are still performing properly. Any local jeweller can do this for you.
